You may be eligible to join the Society of
Mayflower Descendants if you can document your descent from one or more of the
passengers on the Mayflower voyage of 1620 that terminated on the shores
of New England at Plymouth. The following twenty-nine Mayflower
passengers are known to have left proven descendants.

Each State Society is an autonomous organization, so if you
live in Maryland, you will apply to us for membership in the Mayflower Society.

How to Apply for Membership
To begin the application process, you should mark your
e-mail Subject line: "Request For Information" from the Historian of the
Maryland Mayflower Society at the following e-mail address:

Mayflower Preliminary Review Form,
and complete your lineage. This form
should be mailed to the Maryland Mayflower Society Historian at the following

The Historian will advise you on
the preparation of an application for membership. Please note that membership
will not be conferred until (1) your application has been approved both by the
Maryland State Historian and by the Historian General of the General Society of
Mayflower Descendants, and (2) you have paid all requisite fees and dues.
Filing Fee, Initiation Fee and Dues:
- A non-refundable filing (processing) fee of $75.00, made payable to General
Society Mayflower Descendants, is due upon completion
of the membership application process;
- A separate check of $115.00, made payable to the Maryland Mayflower
Society, is also due upon completion of the membership application
process. This amount includes a non-refundable filing (processing)
fee of $25.00 and an initiation fee of $90.00, which would be refunded
should the lineage application be rejected by the Historian General
of our Society
Types of Membership and Dues:
- Annual Membership is open to proven descendants who
are age 18 or older. The annual dues are $40 and are due
January 1 of each year.
- Life Membership is open to proven descendants age
18 or older. Annual Membership may be converted to Life Membership
by paying a one-time fee of $800 at the time of application or anytime
after you become a member. Life Memberships are not transferrable.
- Junior Membership* is open to proven descendants who are
under the age of 18 years and who are related by blood
to a present or past member of the Society. The annual dues are $15.
A Junior Member may not vote or hold office.
- Junior Life Membership is open to proven descendants
under the age of 18 years. There is a one-time fee of $800
payable at the time of application. Junior Life Members
automatically become Life Members and attain voting privileges
at age 18. Junior Life Memberships are not transferrable.
Former members of the Maryland Mayflower Society wishing to be reinstated
should make that request in a letter to the Historian. There is a $100 fee
for reinstatement. If application is made on or before March 31, the required
annual dues payment for that year is $40. If after March 31, the dues payment
is $50. One check made out to the Maryland Mayflower Society for $140 or $150
should accompany the application for reinstatement.
*Between the ages of 18 and 25 a Junior Member
may transfer to Annual or
Life Membership in the Maryland Society, provided the usual lineage papers have
been furnished and approved prior to or at the time of the application for transfer
from Junior to Regular (Annual or Life) Membership.

time without notice.
